AN ATMOSPHERIC UNDERGROUND WEDDING
Ruth and Darren’s Rowantree Wedding was a great mix of fun in the sun and atmospheric underground charm. They held their wedding in the Rowantree, one of Edinburgh’s fantastic wedding venues in the heart of the city. Ruth and Darren live near Manchester. They knew Edinburgh from vacation visits and decided that there was no better place to get married than in Auld Reekie. They were also looking for a wedding photographer who knew how to capture the spirit of a wedding as well as the atmosphere of the Rowantree. They told us that we matched that exactly.
THE WEDDING DAY
Getting ready for the wedding was a typically lively morning. Lots going on and lots of smiles and fun. The ceremony was touching and felt intimate in the Rowantree. After the ceremony we went to The Crags near Arthur’s Seat for some photos. Darren really wanted to see some of Edinburgh’s picturesque scenes in their wedding portraits. It’s a bit of a hike to get there but once you are up on the edge of the cliffs with the cityscape in the background it feels totally worth it. We had a great time with them up there and it added adventure to what was an already excitable day. The party kicked off with a ceilidh. It’s our favourite wedding entertainment and a lot of fun to photograph, probably as much as it is to take part! There was one surprise in store for everyone. Once the ceilidh had finished the band started playing Wonderwall, by Oasis. The surprise was that Darren was singing the lead. He’s a massive Oasis fan and this was a special treat for him on his wedding day. Ruth joined him up front on the tambourine and together they got the disco part of the evening started.
